Peace on Earth

Christmas is almost here and this will be my last project for Catch the Bug, until after the holidays.  We are taking a short vacation to get all our shopping done.

On today’s card I am featuring one of the images from the AKV Nativity Set.

For this Bingo challenge,  I decided to use texture, no designer paper, and Bugaboo image.

For texture - I used a  wood grain embossing folder on my barn structure.  This is an image from Design Space, #M3C900, which has been modified using the slice feature.  The hay roof is from a second image,   #M907D60

I used Nuvo Gilded Flakes in gold on the star.  I created a night sky background by using a dark blue card stock and just added the stars with a white a gel pen.

To add a little depth I blended Distress inks along all the edges of my pieces.  Plus, I mixed my distress inks with a little water and brushed on a few strokes to the barn wall.

Day 6 - Holiday Chaos - Color

It's day 6 of the Holiday Chaos at Bugaboo Stamps.  Today's challenge is a color palette.  I am featuring this cute little stamp "Three Snowmen".

This isn't a typical card, it's a money card.  I found a file in Design Space for a cash card and it's perfect for those money gifts at Christmas.

I cut out two snowflakes from my free dies I got last month with an order from My Favorite Things, and layered them.  Then I heat embossed some Holographic Embossing powder on top for sparkle.

The designer paper was part of Simon Says Stamp December Card Kit.  I colored my image with my Spectrum Noir Markers and added a little shimmer with my Wink of Stella in white.  For extra bling, I addd a few sequins.

Challenges:

You still have tome to enter this weeks challenges at Catch the Bug.  So be sure to link your projects up for a chance to win some free digital images and a chance to be a guest designer.  That's how I came to be a member of the Design Team, I won it during last year's birthday bash.

Day 2 - Holiday Chaos - Sketch

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we are all knee deep in trying to get those Christmas projects finished.  Today we have a new sketch at Catch the Bug.

My card is not exactly like the sketch but, it is only for inspiration.  I wanted to show how you can take a sketch or other challenge and let the creative juices flow.

I wanted to use one of the images from the AKV Nativity Set.

I did have to do some modifying of the image, but that is what I bought Sure Cuts A Lot 4.  It allows me creative freedom with my digital images, plus lets me create electronic dies for all my images.

I used Distress Oxide Inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo for the sand dune, then Picked Preserves, Faded Jeans, and Salty ocean for the sky.  With a white gel pen I added little stars in the sky.

One of these days I need to purchase a new camera for better pictures.  The purple isn’t showing up at all.

I cut a star on my Cricut, then ran it through my Xyron.  On the sticky side I added Nuvo Gilded Flakes in silver.  I really love this stuff.

Challenges:

This week Catch the Bug is hosting a fun event  "Holiday Chaos", so be sure to check back everyday for a new challenge.   You can win this adorable set.

Holiday Chaos Begins - Merry & Bright

I know everyone is a little busy right now, but I hope you can find a little time in your day to join us at Catch the Bug for a week full of fun.  Today kicks off the week long event with a theme Merry & Bright.  Be sure to check out our event "Holiday Chaos", there will be a different challenge each day for all 7 days. It is not necessary to enter every day to be a winner, but it greatly increases your chances.

Everyday there will be a new challenge, you have until Friday to enter each challenge.  Just remember the main theme is Merry & Bright, here is a quick look at all the challenges.

I chose to use this adorable Bobblehead Christmas Elf to kick off the event.  And between me and you, the layout was inspired by tomorrow's sketch.

My sentiment is from My Favorite Things (#MFT) "Handwritten Holidays".  As you can see these are large sentiments and take up a lot of space on your card, but are so worth it.

I found this bright and cheery stripe in my stash, and loved the colors.  The FaLaLa strip, was the upper 1/2".  I chose to emboss my sentiment with a Sparkly White embossing powder.  The picture doesn't show the shine, but there are flecks of silver and iridescent flecks in it.  I used my scalloped border dies to add a little border on both sides of the strip.

I colored my image with Prismacolor pencils keeping the traditional colors.  The elf is attached with foam tape for a little dimension.

Christmas Tag

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Now it's time for the mad dash to finish all my Christmas cards and tags.

Today's tag was inspired by Jessica Frost Ballas's tag shown on Day 14 of the #25daysofchristmastags., I absolutely loved her color combination. I this color combo was perfect for this cute little image Snowman Peeker from the Bugaboo Store.

I used a mini snow stamp to creat the snow background with white embossing powder, but a gel pen would work just as well.  Nuvo crystal drops in ebony black added a little dimension on his buttons, mouth and eyes.  I use a pen tip to add these tiny dots, they are too big straight from the bottle.
If you haven't checked out the New Releases at Bugaboo's New Store what are you waiting for, they're gorgeous AND they are 50% off for the entire week!  There are quite a few adorable christmas stamps available this week on sale.  Be sure to get you a few for those last minute cards or tags.

Bugaboo Oldie But Goodie - Christmas Tag

Today is Thursday and that means it time for an oldie but goodie.  .  Here is a gift tag using my favorite little penguin "Poppi", which you can get at the Bugaboo Store.

I cut my tag at 3.5", this image is one created myself, but there are tons of tags in Design Space you can use.

I used Distress Ink in Salty Ocean and added the blue background, being very careful not to color Poppi, since he was already printed on the tag.

I used a Sharpie Paint pen and gel pen for snowfall, and Wink of Stella in white for the snow.

I am entering this little guy in #25daysoftags2017.  I was inspired by Tracy Mcnealy on Day 10.  I loved the inked background.  It takes a plain white tag to something special.

Reindeer Gift Tag

I can't believe the holidays are already upon us.  I'm sure you are getting busy planning your holiday meal.  Next week we will have to start thinking about Christmas, so with that in mind, I made a tag today.

I have been getting so much inspiration from  #25daysofchristmastags.  This tag was inspired by Brianna on Day 13.   There are so many it's really hard to chose any favorites.

I am featuring Reindeer Peeker on my tag.  As you can see, there isn't really anything fancy, just a few layers and sequins.

Challenges:

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the great images at the Bugaboo Store or join us on one of the weekly challenges.

Stay tuned for the big Christment event.  Here are the planned challenges.  The theme is Merry & Bright, so plan your projects ahead with this theme in mind.

Christmas Tag Bingo

I have been making tags lately to enter in 25 Days of Tags.  Today I am featuring this cute little guy, "Bobblehead Christmas Elf" from Bugaboo Stamps.

I chose the left to right diagonal line  sentiment, embossing and sparkle for my Bingo entry. I used glitter card stock to cut out the word Merry, plus I added some Wink of Stella to the bell on the end of his hat.  The "Christmas" sentiment was stamped then embossed with Ranger Embossing powder in "Fired Brick".  I used my Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders on the bottom edge.

I was inspired by Tracey McNeely's tag on Day 12.  Be sure to check out all the tags, there is so much inspiration.

O Christmas Tree

Here are a few cards I made to send to the Caring Hearts Card Drive 2017.  This is a great cause to show some love to the elderly.  If you want to know more check out #caringheartscarddrive.

I cut out 4 christmas trees with my Cricut Explore, then I created 4 different cards.  On two of my trees I used AG Holly Berries Embossing Folder then added some ink accents with my Distress Inks.

The other two I add lights and used my Nuvo Glitter Drops to create the little light bulb.

These were quick and easy to put together, so you can do them in bulk.

Poppi Penguin Gift Card

Hey there, hope you had a great weekend.  Today is Monday, so that means lets make anything but a card.

I am getting my gift cards started and have been getting tons of inspiration from #25daysofchristmastags.  This tag was inspired by Day 6 - Laura Pryor's tag.  There are so many it's really hard to chose any favorites.

I am featuring Poppi Xmas Snowballs.  I decided to make a cute little shaker card.  I cut my tag out with my Cricut Explore, then used stitched circles to cut out the window.

I layered some white fun foam between the two tags and added a few sequins and snow glitter inside. I did use a little Broken China Distress Oxide ink on the back tag to add a little color behind the shaeker.

I then cut out a stitched oval and cut into pieces to layer on the bottom for a snow drift effect.

I colored Poppi with my Distress Inks and Distress Markers, plus my Prismacolor pencils.

Your out of this World

Not sure what happened here, but this post got deleted from my blog.

This cute little guy is "AKV Astronaut Rocket 2", located in the Bugaboo Store.

I used distress inks (Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire) for the background, first I stamped some stars and used clear heat embossing powder.

I added Glossy Accents over the face, it looks like he actually has an astronaut  helmet on.

Partial Die Cut with the Cricut Explore

Here are a few cards I put together to send to the Caring Hearts Card Drive 2017.  This card drive is to collect cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes.  If you want to get involved, there is more information here.   Unfortunately, I will be keeping these for myself, I failed to review the instructions before I made these and they are the wrong size.  Oh well, I'll have to design some others.  I already have about 10 ready to go, just need to get them in the mail.

Today's card features a partial cut using an image in Design Space instead of a cutting die.  For this card  used the Holly Wreath Image #M418A60 from the Close to My Heart (CTMH) Artistry Cartridge.  I'm not sure, but this cartridge may not be available any more.  I know they retired several of their cartridges.

I sized my image and card panel to fit my 5.25" square card base.  I also made my layer 5.25", because I needed the wreath large enough for my sentiment to be seen.

Look at the image and you can see where I placed my image to slice.  After slicing you will have two pieces that are sliced.  Keep one and discard the other.  Using the contour feature remove the pieces you don't want to cut.

I removed the center piece and a small leaf piece as shown here.

Then you place the image back in place and weld it to the card layer. (Top right image above.)

The finished image looks like the bottom right image shown above.  Now once you place the wreath back in place your cutting file looks like this.

You can do this with any image of your choice.  I just wanted a wreath frame for my card.  If my instructions aren't clear enough you can find numerous videos on how to slice and weld on You tube.

I cut a piece of fun foam out about 1/4" smaller than the panel and then cut a circle out the center.  This was glued to my panel, then to my card to add dimension.  I used Nuvo Crystal drops in red to all the little circle areas.

The sentiment is from MFT Stamps, Handwritten Holiday.  I stamped it with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by, and till next time.

Happy Craftin!

Stamped striped background paper

Today I am taking a break from coloring my digital stamps.  I pulled out one of the monthly card kits I purchased from Simon Says.  Since I have a few birthdays coming up I need to create something other than Christmas cards.  Here is the one I made for my hubby.

I created the background with the stamp set "Brushstroke Messages" included in the October 2017 Card Kit.  I used the two stripes,  the larger stripe I inked with "Outdoor Denim (dark blue or navy blue)" by CTMH.  The smaller stripes are heat embossed with Copper embossing powder.  I used a dark blue HD card stock for the card base from Paper Studios.  The sentiments are from 2 different stamp sets, the "Just wanted to Say" is from the Brushstroke Messages set and the Happy Birthday is an expired stamp from CTMH.

The Misti is the perfect tool for creating background patterns.  I am going to start making more of my backgrounds, they coordinate so much better.

I used vellum for my top layer so I wouldn't hide my background.  I need to figure out what type of tape works best for vellum, I can see it through the vellum.  I used "Hello Wedding" font to create the word husban, this was a free font of the week at Fontbundles awhile back.  I cut it out twice, once out of a thick white card stock and once from foiled copper card stock to add dimension.  Then I stamped the little heart on the vellum and heat embossed with copper embossing powder.

"Ewe" Rock

Hi everyone, hope this finds you having a great week.  Today's freebie at the Bugaboo Store is this cute little guy.

I saw this adorable circle word dies on Pinterest, so I decided to create one myself.  I used Sure Cuts a Lot to get my letters around a circle and then re-arranged and positioned them.  Now I can upload them into Design Space and make them any size I want.  I do find if I cut them below 3" I need to set my Explore to "Intricate Cuts".  My image has a solid center, so I used my Inside/Out Circle Dies from #myfavoritethings to cut a stitched circle out.  Then I used the same die to cut out my image.  Now my center image is inlaid in the outer circle , so I have double stitching.  I placed both cut outs on my card and then used my Stitched Rectangles Set #1 to cut the entire panel.

I added Glossy Accents on the sunglasses and a few silver sequins with a little silver stickies in the center.

The layout was inspired by Stella Says Sketch #517.  This is a bi-weekly sketch challenge, and you can enter up to 3 times.  If you use a Bugaboo Image, you could WIN 10, 7 or 4 Bugaboo Images of your choice.  If you NEED a Bugaboo Stamp to use, head on over to the store and get this weeks Friday Freebie!  Of course a Bugaboo image isn't necessary and you'll still be eligible for 7 or 4 Bugaboo Stamps Images of your choice if you’re one of our winners! All entries must be new and follow the sketch.  Due to the Bugaboo Stamps holiday vacation, we're giving you until 6 am Sunday November 5, 2017 to join the sketchy fun.

Thanks for Everything

We are getting close to the big holiday season, and time to show our gratitude to family and friends for all they do.

Today's new release at the Bugaboo Store is an adorable Thanksgiving image of 6 blocks.  All new releases are 50% off for the week.

I decided to do my little magic and change it up, so I cropped all the blocks individually.  Here is what I decided to use.

The leaves were colored with Prismacolors as follows, then blended with the Prismacolor blending pen:

Orange (from light to dark) 1002, 918,922, 923
Purple (from light to dark) 994,995,1009

I only used the Thanks block and added "for everything" included in the Simon Says Stamp (#Simonsaysstamp) set You Matter (SSS101645).

The papers are from a retired CTMH paper pack "Sangria".  As always, a little bling, with the gold foil washi tape and sequins.
